Communities are often exposed to multiple chemical and non-chemical stressors, the health effects of which are traditionally assessed individually. Assessment approaches that focus on individual stressors often fail to fully capture the aggregate environmental burden for these populations. The EPA’s Office of Research and Development has developed a white paper on how cumulative impact assessments can inform Agency decision-making and on future directions in research to support cumulative impact assessments and has requested a consultation with the Science Advisory Board.
